DUCT CLEANING
Did you know that your HVAC and air duct system work together to circulate air through your home? The problem is that it’s not just air that is getting moved. In the air we breathe there is also “particulate matter”.
The EPA defines particulate matter, as “a complex mixture of extremely small particles and liquid droplets. Particle pollution is made up of a number of components, including acids (such as nitrates and sulfates), organic chemicals, metals, and soil or dust particles”. It is easiest to see an example of particulates when the sun casts light through your window or by looking at your furnace filter.
The furnace filter, or you’re a/c filter is used to filter particulates out of the air prior to going through your HVAC blower motor and back to your house through your duct system, more than 20% of this particulates can still pass through your air filter especially if you don’t change your filter on time. Over time, these particulates build up on the a/c coil of the HVAC system, your HVAC system will not be as efficient and will have to run longer to circulate the heated or cooled air through your home. This can lead to inconsistent heating and cooling, higher utility bills, & costly HVAC repairs, not considering the most important issue being you and your family’s health.

Dust, dirt, dander, allergens, debris, all of these things get trapped inside your ducts, and as the air circulates, it is traveling over and through your dirty duct system. In some cases this dust is redistributed through your home, in other cases it stays in the duct system attracting more dust.
C&C professional air duct cleaning system with powerful vacuum equipment can reach deep into your air duct system and get your Air Duct System clean to help it run more efficiently. C&C technicians use one of the most powerful and effective air duct cleaning systems on the market today. This allows us to clean all types of duct work and air duct systems.
According to the National Air Duct Cleaner’s Association (NADCA), a typical six-room home creates over 40 pounds of dust annually through everyday living. In addition, the typical family generates a great deal of contaminants and air pollutants such as dander, dirt and chemicals. These contaminants are pulled into the HVAC system and re-circulated 50 to 70 times per day on average. Over time, this re-circulation can cause a build-up of contaminants in the air duct work.

There are a few things that the EPA recommends you do to keep your air duct system clean and free of contaminants:
Call the Experts at C&C if:
The EPA warns consumers not hire air duct cleaning professionals who only partially clean the system. Air Duct Cleaning of only part of the system could result in the loss of the benefit of air duct cleaning as dust, debris, and dirt that is left behind will continue to circulate and re-contaminate your home’s air ducts.

- Use a highest efficiency air filter
- Change filters regularly
- If your filters become clogged, change them more frequently
- Be sure you do not have any missing filters and that air cannot bypass filters through gaps around the filter holder
- Have your air coils and drained pans cleaned
- During construction or renovation work that produces dust in your home, seal off supply and return registers and do not operate the heating and cooling system until after cleaning up the dust
- Remove dust and vacuum your home regularly. (Use a high efficiency vacuum (HEPA) cleaner or the highest efficiency filter bags your vacuum cleaner can take. Vacuuming can increase the amount of dust in the air during and after vacuuming as well as in your ducts)
- If your heating system includes in-duct humidification equipment, be sure to operate and maintain the humidifier strictly as recommended by the manufacturer
Call the Experts at C&C if:
- You can visibly see built up dirt, dust or dander in your ducts or have never had them cleaned
- a build-up of dirt at the registers
- particulates / dust blowing out of your vents
- unusual odors
- a unit that runs longer than it used to
- a coil that ices up
- if you have pets
- smoking in the home
- family members that suffer from allergies
- recently remodeled your home
